Chinook
1. The Chinook Indians lived in Washington State.

2. The Chinook were mainly fishermen eating sea mamals and fish. Salmon was their main source of food. They also killed an occasional deer from their canoes.

3. They used bows and arrows as well as harpoons and nets when fishing. Snares were set to catch small animals.

4. The Chinook used spears and lances and made hardened elkihide clothing to protect them from enemy arrows.

5. The women wore short skirts made of cedar bark and grass. The men usually wore nothing at all or chose to were a breechcloth.

6. The Chinook lived in planked wooden houses.

7. The Chinook used dugout canoes to travel from one place to another.

8. Baskets made of bear grass and wooden carvings are among the artifacts of the Chinook.
